The Vulpine Tarot - II The High Priestess by Mabon-Tail The Vulpine Tarot - II The High Priestess by Mabon-Tail
Ever since doing [link] (this piece), I decided to completely redo the character shading so that they look more realistic. :D

The High Priestess, an Island Grey Fox, stands just within the treeline of a forest. She wears a buckled garter as a sign of her rank (It's a very Pagan symbol, by the way). In one paw rests a black marble sphere, signifying her power over shadow. In the other, a white sphere indicative of her power over the light. She holds these heavy stones in her outstretched arms, lifting them with very little effort effort as a sign of the degree of her power over light and shadow. Three trees stand behind her, each with the symbol of a different lunar phase carved into their trunks, signifying the Moon, this card's astrological attribution.

The High Priestess is a card about striving for the greater significance in things. It's about seeking perfection in an imperfect world. When working toward a larger goal, the Querent must keep in mind that to get there, one must set many smaller goals to achieve that ultimate prize. Though the Fool has the idea to create, and the Sorcerer the will, the High Priestess has the power to manifest. In a love reading for a man, this card could signify the perfect woman for him, but for a woman's love reading, this card could signify the same qualities within herself or her friends.

Island Grey Foxes (Urocyon littoralis) are a critically endangered species of fox. They can only be found on six of the eight Channel Islands off the coast of southern California. Those six islands are San Miguel, San Nicholas, Santa Cruz, San Clemente, Santa Catalina, and Santa Rosa.

Made on a 17" MacBook Pro with Illustrator CS3 (for the line work and card frame), Photoshop CS3 Extended (for everything else), and a Wacom Intuos3 6x11 tablet.

I love the discrete triple goddess symbol on the trees! She looks so confident and happy in her ability.

Thanks. I'd say this is one of my best cards, since the symbolism is so powerful.
